I am following the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate and am studying the following subjects in my Options:

A2 History
A2 Media Studies
A2 Government and Politics

I also studied AS English in my first year in the Sixth Form.

I am developing all six of the Key Skills - Communication, Application of Number, IT, Working with Others, Problem Solving, Improving Own Learning and Performance - through the Welsh Bac Advanced Diploma.

My community participation was raising £2000 for the Joshua Foundation, a charity for children with terminal cancer. This was a very rewarding experience, as part of which I also spent three weeks in Australia doing
conservation work.

My individual investigation is a Powerpoint presentation on representations of famous Welsh people in the media in Wales as compared with how Welsh personalities are portrayed in the United States.

I really enjoyed my work experience during which I was fortunate to be able to spend a week working in the London parliamentary office of our local MP Alun Michael. This also helped me in my AS Politics course.

The one-to-one interviews with my personal tutor are very helpful. The variety of projects, topics and key skills covered in the Bac are interesting and the tutor helps me to stay organised. They give me encouragement and motivate me.

I was very pleased to hear that the Welsh Bac will be worth 120 UCAS points. I am hoping to be able to go to university to study broadcasting and journalism.
