Requirements for the Advanced Diploma
The Welsh Baccalaureate is widely accepted by higher education institutions. The Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma attracts 120 UCAS (university entry) points, the same as an A grade in an A Level subject.
To gain a Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma candidates must achieve the core certificate and optional qualifications:-
Core Certificate at level 3
- Three ESW/key skills at level 3, together with the other three ESW/key skills at level 2. At least one of the ESW qualifications, Communication, Application of Number or ICT must be included.
- Completion of compulsory Candidate Diary.
- Individual Investigation at level 3.
To pass the Advanced Diploma candidates must achieve one of the following:
- A maximum of three qualifications at Level 3 which total 720 GLH or 108 credits or 100% of the Level 3 threshold or Principal Learning (Level 3) and Extended Project qualification Level 3.
