The Qualification
Wales, Europe and the World
In this part of the Welsh Baccalaureate, students learn more about Wales and its place in Europe and the World.
There are four elements in Wales, Europe and the World.
At Foundation and Intermediate levels candidates must consider each of the following elements:
Politics
Social issues
Economic and technological issues
Cultural issues
At Advanced level candidates must consider key issues in each of the following elements:
· Political issues
· Social challenges and responses
· The impact of economic and technological change
· Heritage and cultural perspectives
Teachers encourage discussion and debate on the key issues. They may invite visiting speakers and arrange visits to relevant places and organisations. This part of the Welsh Baccalaureate gives students positive experiences and helps them 'learn by doing'.
The Wales, Europe and the World component also has a Language Module. In this module students develop language skills in their chosen language. This may be from beginner level or built on skills already acquired.
