Requirements for the Advanced Diploma

To gain a Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma students must achieve the core certificate and optional qualifications:-

Core Certificate at level 3:

  • Three key skills at level 3, together with the other three key skills at level 2. At least one of the key skills must be Communication, Application of Number or ICT
  • Diary records and where relevant verification statements, for Personal and Social Education, Wales, Europe and the world (including the language module) and Work related education
  • Individual Investigation at level

Candidates may substitute a qualification in A Level Computing or ICT at Grade E or above for the Level 3 key skill requirement in ICT. Candidates may substitute a qualification in GCSE ICT at Grade C or above for the Level 2 key skill requirement in ICT.

Options:

NVQ Level 3 or BTEC National Certificate at pass level, or two grades A-E at GCE A Level or equivalent.
Principal Learning and Extended Project at Level 3.

Please note: some equivalences, in terms of NVQ, VCE, BTEC or other qualifications may not be clear-cut. Centres should refer such cases, or similar queries, to the WJEC.
